😬 Whoops! Too many email reports...
Yesterday was the first Monday that you would have received a performance report sent to your inbox if you had already updated to version 3.5.
And while the reports went out on time, with valuable insights, there were some... unforeseen drawbacks.
By default, all users that could see reports were opted in to recieve the performance report by email. This meant that agency users, virtual assistants, and other tech types that might manage multiple sites received an email for each site they managed.
For some, that meant 50 or more emails at 9:00 AM. Not ideal. Not to mention the several hundred emails that were sent to our support desk as well🤦. A bit of an oversight on our part.
So, to solve that issue, updating to 3.5.1 will do the following:
- Automatically opt-out any user whose email address does not match the URL of the site.
- Automatically opt-out all super admins on multisite installations.
This should prevent agencies and other site manager types from getting bombarded with performance reports.
Of course, you can explicitly opt-in to receiving performance reports from your profile on any site you manage at any time.
